Scientific Name: Aulonocara sp. (Peacock cichlid hybrid/line‑bred)

Origin: Captive-bred African cichlid, derived from Lake Malawi peacock lines 

Size & Lifespan

• Adult Size: 5–6 inches
• Lifespan: Approximately 6–10 years with proper care

Tank Requirements

• Minimum Tank Size: 50–60+ gallons recommended
• Temperature: 75–82°F
• pH: 7.4–8.6 (alkaline)
• Water Type: Hard water preferred

Tank Setup:

• Sandy substrate with open swimming areas
• Moderate rockwork and caves for hiding and territories
• Strong filtration and water circulation required

Diet

• Omnivorous / carnivorous leaning
• High-quality cichlid pellets as staple
• Supplement with frozen or live foods such as brine shrimp, bloodworms, or mysis
• Feed 1–2 times daily

Behavior & Compatibility

• Temperament: Semi-aggressive — typical for peacock cichlids
• Best with similarly sized African cichlids (peacocks, haps)
• Avoid very small, passive, or overly aggressive tankmates
• Males can be kept with several females to reduce aggression
