This stunning hybrid has a golden hue that separates it from the rest!

Size & Lifespan

• Adult Size: Around 5–6 inches typical for OB peacock types  
• Lifespan: Approximately 6–10 years with proper care

Tank Requirements

• Minimum Tank Size: 55–75+ gallons recommended for active swimming and territorial behavior  
• Temperature: 75–82°F typical range for Malawi cichlids  
• pH: 7.8–8.6 (alkaline) recommended  
• Water Type: Hard, stable African cichlid water preferred

Tank Setup:

• Sandy substrate with open swimming areas
• Rockwork and caves for hiding and territory boundaries
• Strong filtration and good water circulation

Diet

• Omnivorous / carnivorous leaning
• High‑quality cichlid pellets (for best color and health) 
• Supplement with frozen or live foods such as brine shrimp, bloodworms, and mysis
• Feed 1–2 times daily

Behavior & Compatibility

• Temperament: Semi‑aggressive — typical of Peacock/OB strains  
• Best with similarly sized African cichlids (peacocks, haps)
• Avoid very small, passive, or highly aggressive tank mates.

Breeding

• Maternal mouthbrooder — females carry and protect eggs until fry are free‑swimming (typical of African peacock lineage)
